1988 Converted Step Van for Sale

$17,000 – OBO

1988 GMC Step Van for Sale

This van used to be a Salem, Oregon, SWAT van in the “old days.”   It has the original 83,000 miles on the well-maintained DIESEL engine! It was converted sometime around 2018.

I bought the van in 2020, and I’ve lived in it for over four years now.  I traveled as far as Whitehall, Montana, “vagabonding.” I found myself missing the great Northwest and returned to the area of the Olympic Peninsula.  Out hawking my book in a campground, I met a lovely woman (who bought my book) and invited me to park my rig on her property, where I lived for the next three years.

Now, it’s time to move on and to share this van with the next person.  It provides a warm cozy interior of recycled wood (no plastic-fantastic).  Take off for the hills! Or if you’re working putting up wind towers or working in remote areas, it’s a great alternative to living in a motel. Or let it be your temporary home while you build your new house, or park it on that isolated piece of mountain or river property for those vacation months. Or if you just need to escape the politics or …

Having sailed in the South Pacific for seven years, to me, this van is like a LandBoat. Though designed to be hooked up to water and electricity, it is also self-sufficient with solar power and water, as well as having the ability to store months of food, clothing, and tools.

The van is presently near Oregon City, Oregon.

(Note:  On my little funky video, I mistakenly said it’s a 1989 GMC instead of a 1988.)

Please only bona fide, interested persons inquire. No tire-kickers.

I will accept cash, certified money order or credit cards.

Please call or email if you have questions or would like to arrange to see it.
